Author's Note:  I am a person who loves to eat.  )  This poem is dedicated to Epicurus - the patron saint of feasting and revelry - and to my fellow Epicureans!

          For Epicurus

A toast to Epicurus,
The champion of my cause!
I find his wise philosophy
Completely without flaws.
To eat and drink for sustenance
Is simply not enough;
The mouth was meant for feasting,
And the belly made to stuff.

At supper, if I linger,
'Til each speck of food is gone;
Remember, then, my hero, bold,
Who dined with great elan.
And raise a cup to revelry,
Then drain it to the dregs,
In honor of that saintly man;
Now, pass the chicken legs!

LOL - We can't have this funny tidbit escaping to page two without everyone feasting upon it....

Very cute, Tony...

This is great Troy! Very clever! I agree, eating well is one of the joys in life! (coming from someone who has basically been on a diet all her life)

Troy~
Feasting upon this delight
will surely whet the appetite.
Until it's time to dine again
with the praise of delightful Epicurean's.

I loved the caloric count in this.
Second helpings, please !
