A Poet's Eve

Soft folded soundings entice me to write
like the lingering breath of the new restless night.
In the shelter of shadow I'm finding my place
as evening coquettes 'pon the daylight's erase.

Into twilight I step o'er the threshold of day
minding, gingerly, footfalls of sunset's display.
Mingled low, overhead, with a brilliance afire
with cicada accompaniment, euphonious choir.

And as I take pen in hand, inspirations begin
their sweet settling eve over sesame skin.

Dear LadyClaire

This is beautiful Claire... I still write the odd poem while sitting out with mother nature
...but mostly now I just write as I sit at the computer ... Guess I don't need as much inspiration to write knee slappers as I do to write something worthwhile

Incredibly lovely Claire.  I especially loved the lines:"
Mingled low, overhead, with a brilliance
afire
with cicada accompaniment, euphonious choir."

Such beauty.

Lone Wolf...So glad you found it to be something that pleased you. Thank you!

Rex...hey, I LOVE your knee slappers, and they are WONDERFUL, my dear, so you hush talking like that!   I wish I could write a good knee slapper like you can, Rex!

Krista...thank you so much. I always appreciate your comments and I love reading your work.

Martie...as do you, and I so enjoy reading your heart~words. I really loved "The Simple Grace of Going" last night, Martie. Claire, what a wonderful poem!  I must beg to differ with you, though...I don't think that "With Pen In Hand" is any lovelier than this.  You definitely have poetry in your soul!  My  favorite lines are "Into twilight I step o'er the threshold of day              minding, gingerly, footfalls of sunset's display."
Powerful imagery, wonderful expression - keep up the good work!

Troy

A wonderful mixture of color and light
brought forth with mere print on a backround.
Always a pleasure M.M.
