Once in a land far away
Where the sun shines its lone ray
There was a lonely knight
Weary from the long fight
Sitting upon his chestnut steed
Pondering what his heart did need

When he saw across the field
A stunning beauty that made him yield
There upon the whitest mare
Sat a lovely maiden fair
She looked deep in thought
He wondered what it was she sought

Across the meadow their eyes met
Sparks flew as you could bet
He galloped over to her side
And in his heart was filled with pride
For now he knew that he had found
The richest treasure there was around

The knight and his maiden fair
Made together the perfect pair
He is strong and true and brave
With such courage that will never wave
She is soft and supportive and sweet
With such compassion that can't be beat

LW, there are no chance encounters. . . only chances taken, and chances lost. . .

Excellent poem. ..

Hi Lone Wolf,

The chance encounter, oh how we all have wished it could be this way. But love seems to be so elusive.

Sven....thank you and you are so right.  I guess I would rather focus on chances taken and put my money where my mouth is here.  Which will it be for you??  Without the chance, there would be no encounter....

Poet deVine.....me too.  They are my favorite things to read about.  Thank you.

Cheryl....I am a sucker for the happy ending!!  Glad you liked it.

Cerenity....love is only elusive if we do not take the chance that sets it all in motion to begin with.

Loneheart....thanks!!  I like the top!!  LOL.

she said I dont know if I've ever been good enough,
and I'm a little bit rusty, and I feel like my head is caving in.
...and I dont know if I've ever been really loved by a hand thats touched me...
and I feel like somethings gonna give...
and I'm a little bit angry.

Janet,
Thank you for the kind words.  I have always loved the knight in shining armor theme too.  A good friend inspired me to write this....he has always been my knight.  Take care!!

I love happy endings too!
Does that mean we live in a fantasy world?

Great poem.....

Liz,
Thank you and I think Sven is wise beyond his years.  Actually, it was written for the knight not the maiden.  Perhps it will spark one for the maiden....we shall see.

LoneWolf~

She sits astride the mare of white
Wishing for her gentle knight
Maiden waiting patiently
for the love that she so needs
Across the meadow of her dream
strides the Knight of perfect seem
Thundering in on chestnut steed
The storybook ending to her need
He drew up and took her hand
Ride they now across the land
Lovers of the meadow dance
Dream content - encountered chance

Once in my life, I remember being a fair
maiden in distress - nary a knight in
shining armor came to my rescue to answer
my call of duress.

I let down my hair and climbed the highest
tower and looked o'er the land, but none
were to be found -----

I rode my white stallion but he bucked
me off and broke my wrist - which never
got kissed

I searched high and low from land to sea
and never found a knight such as thee.

AH, lone wolf what a sweet well written
fairy tale   Thanks for sharing.
Keep writing -----------Back to the beginning

LW, nice little knight's tale you weave here. Was expecting the knight to do battle to win the hand of maiden fair. Guess it was just love at first sight and off into the sunset they went.
Well written Camelot story!

netswan,
Thanks for the poem!!!  Very nice, but wish it had a happier ending.  I will keep writing for sure.  Maybe even a fairy tale.

Danny,
Thank you!!!  Maybe next time there will be a battle.  Hope you're not disappointed.  Guess I just felt like love at first sight that day!!  I have always loved the days of Camelot.  What can I say??

LW
This is just a wonderful poem , i just loved it!
But I must say that i disagree with you
I don't believe in chance encounters , I believe in Fate and that doesn't matter what you do in the end you'll have done everything it was writen!
Keep the good work!
