Send me an angel

When I was just seventeen
I had a lovely dream.
In my dream I met an angel.
She was illuminated before me
wearing a dress of white chiffon.
Somehow supended in the air
though her wings were gone.
She told me her name was angelic
and as I would soon discover
she was totally innocent and sweet
and had never entertained a lover.
Then she ask me a question I'll never forget.
"I've lost my angel wings it seems...
have you seen a pair flying around in your dreams?"

Yes..that's exactly the question angelic ask of me
I remember every word she softly said to me.
This beautiful angel less her wings...
This precious angel in my dreams.
"None tonight" I heard myself reply.
"And tell me dear sweet angel...
how could you lose your wings, and why."
"Are angel wings sewed on or something?"
"I've never heard of an angel losing her wings."
Twas then she came closer this angel angelic
and whispered in my ear words soft and sweet.

"I've come from very far away
to meet you on this very day
and if my heart speaks to me true
your heart has yearned for me too."
These were the sweetest words I'd ever heard.
My heart went "WOW" my head went "OW"
cause on that very moment something fell
right on my head and on my bed.
"Oh look...its my angel wings" she said.
These were the biggest pair of angel wings
that this young man had ever seen.
Twas thru my daze I heard angelic say
"So sorry sweetie...I'd love to stay...
but my angel wings have come to take me away."
"See you next time and I don't know exactly when
but for now goodbye...and one small kiss to remember me by...until then."
And as my angelic flew away like a dove
I dreamed on of her sweet love.
For when I was seventeen we shared a lovely dream.

This was the catching line J...romantically soft and touching...

This was one of your best!!!

Thank you devina and Marge you are special angels.  I missed an opportunity...I have been wanting to use the name "Send me an angel" on a poem for about a month..when I finally wrote one about an angel I used the wrong title.  I feel more better now. James

beautiful poem James..full of your tender sweet heart and emotions...
as always your gentle words touch us.
take care, jm

Do you live by the book, do you play by the rules
Do you care what is thought by others about you
If this day is all that is promised to you
Do you live for the present, the future the past...

AHA.... So that's how it works.. I always wondered about that... Did she keep her halo, though??... Nice work, James..

James, I enjoyed this. The contemporary dialogue mixed with that rather timeless aire that your angel image brought to my mind made this a touching yet whimsical piece of poetry.

I don't mean to be mean
But I am glad you had that dream
So you could share with us
Your angelic sense of humor

How beautiful, you tell such a touching tale.  I was transformed to your dream with you....you have such a gift, thank you for sharing it!!!

Marina lovely words..perhaps there is a little angel in all of us.

Hi, great poem, I am an angelswing, sorry I took your sweet heart away, but all of the best things in life are confined to heaven, far above my head, I am but a lonly messanger with an ironic job . I loved the poem, you know when you found the one, then you just have to prey that they like you .

With poetry as your weapon - express your iner feelings so all may carry your sorrow, united as one .

I understand angelswing...yet my friend Mich was sad when the angel went away...she would have loved for angelic to stay with the lad.
So next time please let her stay ...and I will always remember to pray.
Thank you Terry I appreciate your wonderful comments.   James
