Of pleasures to Come

In lonely Chaco canyon,
silence rings in city ears,
the terrain uses trickery,
earliest daguerreotypes,
blurring, shifting shapes.

They say the sky is bluer here,
so the Anasazi once believed,
airstreaming memories,
lives left in pictographs,
bricks breaking down.

We ascend to the red zenith,
walkabout rocky washes,
where muddy rivers once sprang
I breathe in a familiar scent,
of you, next to me.

Time never seems to matter,
for the moment, anyway,
lost in pleasures to come
everything can wait,
when you are next to me.

Corinne~

Red Mesa Black-on-white was the most common style of decorated pottery used at Chaco Canyon, New Mexico during the period AD 900-1030.

Your palette is awash with the spirit of vivid colors.

The Anasazi are a fascinating tribe of which we can only stand in awe of their talent.
The Chaco Canyon is alive with their history.

You have taken me there with your paint brush upon the canvas.

The history lessons shared through this site are wonderful.
Thank you so much.  I feel like I've been
on a vacation ... yet never left my chair.

Great!

I love this paradox:

'Time never seems to matter,
for the moment, anyway,
lost in pleasures to come
everything can wait,
when you are next to me.'

Wonderful, Corinne...as usual!

Very nice, Corinne - You've given us something to ponder over... and I, too, particularly enjoyed the last stanza...

even a walk around the block with the one we love can be a timelock moment but add the setting you've described and wonderous things can happen

Thank you, Rex!  I was a little concerned about the flow of this one, changes course midstream.  But, wanted to convey those feelings being even more fantastic because of the setting, and I'm so happy you picked up on that!  makes me feel better!  LOL

Thank you, Vamp and Hoot!

Parker, just taking a little trip in my mind!
and Thank you.
