I long for the night and welcome sleep
prefer darkness to light for then I no longer weep.

Dreading the morn and its long day ahead
wishing I wasn't born wishing I was dead.

Try to make it through each cold and windy day
without thinking of you, I just can't keep you away.

So I fight with my feelings and my confused head
as I remember the words that we not long ago said.

But time will never erase the love I hold for you
forever in my heart's embrace always cherished always true.

Now I lay me down to sleep oh, how I welcome the night
for  I'll no longer weep, when I turn off the light.

Every night I think like this.  Thank you for looking into the window of my heart and putting it so very eloquently.

I wish that you didn't have to go through what you're going through - I wish I could take it away somehow, make it easier.......
You probably already know what I'm gonna say, but I'll say it again - I'm here for you, whenever you need me, I'll help shelter you from the storm as best I can, always.

Moonshine.

It is so often difficult to still the tears that take one through to the ending of light...with sleep, if only in dreams, one can hope for reprieve. Your poem describes so creatively how this feels. Wonderfully written.

This is cool dark angel...I remember when my first wife left me and took my three boys and I would have to watch TBN half the night to put my mind at ease so I could go to sleep and the pain was so intense that I would always pray to God that I wouldn't wake up in the morning...to a fresh dose of pain.   James
