I know you're my friend, but I don't understand why.
You had to go and say, those things that were all lies.
You and I both know that those words aren't true,
But they came from your mouth, so I was left feeling blue.
You say I need to change so you'd give a damn.
But why do you care? Just love me the way I am.
The things I do, I know aren't right,
Most people are worse, worse day by night.
Just wait, I'll change, I'll give you that glance,
Be a better friend and give me a chance.
I'll do good, even better then I did before,
Just bare with me, don't close that door.
Keep it open, with what's inside,
Cheer me on, give me pride.
Don't tear us apart, don't use that knife.
Be proud of me for my changing life.
Try to stick with me until the very end,
I know you can, cause you're my friend.
Don't laugh at me. Don't put me down.
Don't say those things. Don't make me frown.
Just help me through this, I can't do it by myself.
It takes more then one person to get me off this shelf.
Just make me feel good, don't let me be sad.
You're making me change, from this that was bad.
I understand what you mean, don't let me be.
Change me from this, to the real me.

Loved this writing...we all want someone to accept us just as we are..it is so refreshing to hear your sincere feelings and the desire you have to change and become a better person..something only you can desire and place into action in your life...you sure convinced me..I love it when people are honest with me like that.  So true that it all starts out as a friendship..I have failed many times when I forget that truth. I too, love it when people are honest with me. I wrote this poem because of a friend of mine. I was going through a rough time and he told me to "call him when I change." Literally broke my heart, cause he was a very good friend of mine.
