Have I Told You

Have I told you yet today how much I love you?
Have I whispered how I wish that you were here?
Do you know how much you fill my thoughts each moment?
Do you know that it’s your love that brings me cheer?

Have I told you yet today how much I miss you?
Have I shown you how your love excites my soul?
Do you know that ours is love to last forever?
Do you know that only you can make me whole?

Have I told you yet today how much you thrill me?
Have I let you see the height of my desire?
Do you feel my heartbeat quicken when you kiss me?
Do you know that it’s for you my heart’s afire?

Have I told you yet today how much you lift me?
Have I shown you just how much this man has grown?
Do you know that it’s your love that makes me better?
Do you know I’m far more grateful than I’ve shown?

Have I told you yet today how much I want you?
Have I given you the comfort of my love?
Do you know my passion blazes for you only?
Do you know it’s always you I’m dreaming of?

Have I told you yet today how much I need you?
Have I thanked you for the comfort that you share?
Do you realize how much you fill my longings?
Do you know that you provide my every care?

Have I told you yet today I’ll always love you?
Have I given you a quiet peaceful rest?
Do you know that you are everything I’ve dreamed of?
Did you ever think we’d be so amply blessed?

I had to take the time today to tell you,
Of how you haunt my thoughts through every hour.
I hope that you can feel the love I carry,
As I give myself completely to your power.

David, this has got to be one of the most beautiful love poems I have ever seen! I wouldn't mind getting something like this from my husband! But since he's not a poet I never will. I'm sure your honey just loved it!

Thanks Denise,
My love is the only reason I write, she inspires everything that makes it to paper. It is certainly nice to have such a captive audience.

Lovely!  Your words bring such memories to mind that I'd thought were long forgotten.  Excellent work.

David, this has caused tears to leap to my eyes...this is by far one of the sweetest poems I've ever seen in print. Oh, to have a poem like this written in one's honor...surely she must know! Just beautiful.

David2~

Not just a poet ...
but ONE SMART MAN !

'I had to take the time today to tell you,
Of how you haunt my thoughts through every hour.
I hope that you can feel the love I carry,
As I give myself completely to your power.'

Beautiful.

It's certainly astounding what a little good inspiration can do for us, isn't it?
