Timeless

In you did time create a masterpiece,
Of beauty ever rare and unsurpassed.
With diligence his work doth never cease,
Each gentle stroke improving on the past.
With special care he molds you with his hands,
That fleeting days and hours must not be grieved .
Your softest sweetest soul alone then stands,
The breath of love and beauty so achieved.
To watch you grow and gain at times brings tears,
To know that in our lives we’ve found a place,
Where eagerly we wait the passing years,
Content and calm in every warm embrace.

Engage your day with great alacrity,
For time has found his greatest work in thee.

"Of beauty ever rare and unsurpassed"
nice expression.
Interesting look at time and passing years.
Well done.

An excellent sonnet, David. I can see why it is a favorite style of yours.

Nan, It's true, I love sonnets, over 95% of my work is in sonnet form. It is wonderful to know there are others who use it as well.

David2~

Well, not to be out-donnet ...
I really like your sonnet !

I don't care what they call it,
for it fairly flaunts with glee.
It sings a song of reminisce
that hums my melody.

You're a welcomed addition
to this poet's chamber.

take care, jm

 and you can say baby...
baby can I hold you tonight
maybe if told you the right words...
at the right time,
you'd be mine...
baby can I hold you tonight...

David2, I've read this aloud twice, and am very taken by the ease and flow of its sound. A beautiful and tender message coupled with your gentle alliteration make this a very lovely poem. I think I may have to try my hand at "sonnet~ing"...wonder if anyone might be willing to give a bit of instruction...?

Wonderful writing.
