Sitting in Michael's Lap

Jaded

Get thee awake, oh Dreamer!
No more thy visions seek;
Lay down thy mystic mirror,
For all it holds is bleak.

Be still, thou tireless Seeker!
Forsake thy fruitless quest;
Live not thy days beholden
To Wisdom's cold behest.

Trust not, devoted Lover!
But make thy heart of stone;
Invite within no other,
For refuge stands alone.

Put down thy pen, oh Poet!
Abandon now thy verse;
Waste not thy precious phrases
To gild the Maker's curse.

Cast off thy faith, Believer!
Heed not divine command;
Relinquish not thy spirit
To grasp of unseen hand.

Be thou content, oh Cynic!
Unconquered thou wilt be
Whilst all about lie vanquished
By Life's inconstancy.

 Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

My, this is very pessimistic, but very well written. I enjoyed it greatly.

You are an amazing writer ...
If we locked you in a room full of puppies
could you add another verse to this

Reading this, I felt like I should be trying to weave and dodge. This slams out there with a powerful, acidic punch!

Kess~
Your writing is the personification
of intrigue.
You always cause me to take another read.
I like for a poem to do that.

OK, OK, OK... I can buy most of it... but not the "Put down thy pen, oh Poet" part... You'd best not do that, my friend...
