The Greatest love

We share a love far greater than
The sum of all its parts.
Two hearts that beat in unison,
Enjoined by Cupidís darts.

We walk today a virgin path,
Still eagerly traversed.
Our destination yet unknown,
Our future unrehearsed.

This special bond that we now share,
Amazing in its scope.
Awash in total honesty,
A wondrous gift of hope.

And yet I sense your hesitance,
To trust your passionís lead.
To practice such a quaint reserve,
Canít satisfy our needs.

If this is not what love must be,
I hunger not for love.
Just grant me our comraderie,
To never question of.

Let inhibitions slip away,
And grant yourself release.
Surrender to that inner self,
Embrace our perfect peace.

Though faced with dire circumstance,
Weíll ever persevere.
For fellowship thatís based on truth,
Must not engender fear.

A love too fine for crass deceit,
Or subtle masquerade.
I pledge to never sully it,
Engaged in trite charade.

Now humbly I accept your heart,
In gracious reverence,
Indebted now beyond my means ,
Or hope of recompence.

My heart is yours forevermore,
To take at my insistence,
Now do with it but what you will,
Youíll meet with no resistance.

If, God forbid, our days should end,
Iíll stand erect and tall.
A better man for having known,
This greatest love of all.

Your style is much like mine, perhaps that's why I'm enjoying your work as much as I am... Keep 'em coming, my friend... I like it, I like it..

David2~
These are just beautiful words
to fall forth from your pen.
I am just delighted that you
have come to share them with us.

David,
the thoughts and feelings expressed here were all so positive and warm. I like the way the poem moved from the beginning of an unknown relationship to look further down the track into the future. A great poem

David,
So great a talent, I am in great admiration of your work. Perfect rhyme and meter and fluid from beginning to end, not to meantion romantic, which of course I love.
This is exceptional

Welcome, David. I believe this is the first of your poems that I've had the pleasure to read. Beautifully presented, this piece speaks of sincerity, trust and devotion. Wonderful writing.
