The Swan of Melody
Glides with beauty across the staves of life
She has sung many roles
Each more challenging than the last
Her arias have thrilled many
But now, the performance is over, and the crowd has gone on its way.

She continues to swim
For swim she must to sing her next song
Her voice, once beautiful, now bears the scars of life
     She still continues to sing
Her arias thrill fewer
But the performances are shorter, and the crowd seeks her less each day.

Time continues to turn
The swan still swims, her voice almost stilled
No longer does she thrill the once cheering crowd
But her voice still holds beauty
For the crowd of one
Who has waited his whole life for this one performance.

A lucky one indeed.  Very sweet poem.  Kind of sad though.

Sven, this piece is so touching, and your last stanza, especially poignant. I think it's beautiful.

Loved the imagery here, Sven.  Touching every step of the way...I, too, loved the ending.  No song is wasted as long as someone enjoys...
Thank you again.

Your melody in this is very touching Sven...

so beautiful Sven...your song bird inspired much grace in you...this was lovely to read and breath in...
take care, jm

 and you can say baby...
baby can I hold you tonight
maybe if told you the right words...
at the right time,
you'd be mine...
baby can I hold you tonight...
