Forever In Your Heart

As I look upon the looking Glass,
I see you and I, days past,

Times we laughed,times we cried,
Times we loved, times we tried,

Every memory I see,
Into this looking glass is of you and me,

The looking glass is a reflection,
A beautiful token of our love,

Placed upon a shelf,
High up above,

So often I get it down,
I think of you and I cry,

Tears flow softly to the ground,
Tears that sting my eyes,

I remember the day,the hour,
You gave the looking glass to me,

We sat on the park bench,
underneath the willow tree,
A time when we were young, wild and free,

You told me of your love,
A pledge you did vow,

To forever be with me,
But where are you now?

You gave me a poem and placed it inside,
You held me close as you kissed me,
Then you had to say goodbye,

My heart was broken,
You left me this token,
A token of love surpassed,

I was left standing,
looking into the looking glass,

Years have come and gone,
I am here all alone,

Your death at such a young age,
I could not grasp,

Forever I'll have you near my heart,
On days forever past,

I am with you, my love,
As I look upon the looking glass.

Romantic this is precious the thoughts you have written here..the compassion in your heart.  I'm so sorry if this happened to you..I lost a spouse thru divorce and I was heartbroken for years..I can not imagine the heartbreak if she had died..I hope new blessings come to you.   James

Very touching, I hope you haven't had to feel this pain.

This is so well written.  The emotion and expression are as good as any I have read in Passions.
"a time when we were young, wild, and free"
"a token of love surpassed".
This is sad and touching.
Well done.
Also, thanks for responding to my poem.

Thanks for all the kind and loveing replies,
I am blessed, for I myself have not had to endure such pain...but I feel the pain of others hearts...and I wrote this as if I was them....does anyone else as a poet do that?
Write from others experiences or lives, that isn't your own?I write from daydreams, imagination, experiences, and by feeling for others.Oh yeah and I get inspired by movies and songs...alot from personal feelings or longings.

Romantic Heart~
Oh, this is a touching poem.
To those of us who have suffered
such a loss .. it means the world
to know that someone would 'feel'
our pain.

Yes, yes, yes .. I certainly write
of the situations of others.
The merry-go-round of life spins us
around and drops us into the lives
of others ... I'm often inspired to
write something that may help someone
else.
I don't have to 'live' it to write it.
But I can walk in their mocassins long
enough to feel how they might feel.
That is reaching out and giving of yourself.
Always keep that trait.
Thank you again for this read.

Heart you never cease to amaze me.
Each piece you write is more heart felt than the last. As I have stated before,
for one so young your work is and has the effect upon ones soul of a much older poet or at least one that has experienced many more years of life upon this earth. My youngest daughter is 27 and tries to be a poet. If only she had your talent I would be a very happy Father.

Marge I am glad someone else understands,I feel I must give people a part of me to tuch their lives, give them love, a shoulder to cry on...and through poetry you can!

Lone: I deeply thank you for such a honoring comment! I am humbled to say the least, I just write from my heart, my soul, I release everything I feel and let it flow out to others...After having such a great poet as a father, your daughter should have your style and touch...she is 4 years younger than me.I have always felt like I have been here upon the earth longer than my physical years....
