She’s miles away a drive half a day
To far to just drop in
Close to my heart even though we’re apart
          I wonder how she’s been

Remembering the past oh what a blast
          The laughter we did share
Some memories bad it makes me so sad
To her I wasn’t always fair

No matter the strain maybe causing her pain
          Beside me she would stand
Standing so strong even though I was wrong
          She’d always take my hand

More than the bad good times we did have
Didn’t matter what we had done
Times we’d get crazy or sit and be lazy
          We’d always have great fun

Deepest thoughts we share, comfort in despair
Or listen quietly for a while
Go out of our way to make each others day
Or just share a friendly smile

All of this and more may it keep an open door
          Until a long life’s end
I hold dear to me and may she always be
          This, my very Best friend

After twenty years of laughter and tears
          One thing I have learned
Friends you will find but please keep in mind
A true friend is something earned

To my friend Sheri from your friend Sheri
A gem so precious and rare
The irony of a name both being the same
          Yet another thing we share

deVine...Thank you! I thought this was a good way to show her how much I appreciate her! Better than just sending a card!

Hey Mom.....Glad you like it! Sorry, didn't mean to make you cry...
And she will see it soon, I hope!

This was so wonderful! You and your friend are very lucky indeed to share such a wonderful friendship. My best friend and I live in different states, and though at times the miles does get to me, I could never imagine being best friends with anyone else! I can see from your poem that you feel quite similar about this friend of yours!
Take care,
AMY

Rainbow.......It certainly is a rock, and it will knock down anything or anyone that gets in the way!

Thank you Martie!

Aimster.......Her and I also live in different states, and it is hard!
I wish she would have never moved. But she is always just a phone call away
It's nice to have such a good friend isn't it? We are truly blessed....I'm glad you too have a great relationship.
Thank you for your thoughts.

Great rhyme scheme in this poem, perfect verses, in addition to being a heart warming tribute.
Good all the way around
