Hard To Believe
~*Marge Tindal*~

The plasticity of authenticity
is hard to understand.
Standing before you isn't enough
I must whip out plastic
to prove who I am!

The fact that I am breathing
is not proof that you will take.
Credit card appeal
is it real or is it fake?

The thief that stole my wallet
could be 'me' in a minute's time,
but I can't file a police report
without the plastic that was mine!

'A picture ID of any kind
will do, little miss.'
How in the heck do I prove who I am,
when I no longer have any of this?

Somewhere down the road
a thief is 'me' on the lam,
while I need to be fingerprinted
to prove who I am.

Forget the Driver's License,
that picture really sucks
but without it
I'm simply
OUT OF LUCK !

The duplicity of this whole ordeal
is more than I can take.
I'll return tomorrow
with an ID that is FAKE.

If I get caught,
and I probably will,
could somebody please
PAY MY BAIL !

Double ROTFLMAO!

Well - we'll all provide an alibi for you my dear - you were here - the whole time, replying to our poetry...

This happens and obviously isn't funny to the one suffering through it.  But you have written about it in a wonderfully humerous way!!!  Now my day will end with a hearty laugh that has dispelled the stress of the day!!

Kamla~
Thanks ... when it was happening ..
it was NOT a comical situation.
Even now I have to press my own buttons
to find humor in it.
Well ... at least I know that you know that I know who I am. Or something like that !
Love you, little one.

Ah - ha !
You sneaked in there while I was replying
to Kamla ...
You been taking lessons from that low-down, dirty,
no-good thief?  SNEAKY !
LOL !  Glad to give you a laugh.
The deputies still laugh at the fact that I went to my car,
got a Polaroid camera out, took my OWN picture and said .....
there ... that's me. How's THAT for a picture ID?
Thanks for commenting with a smile.

Oh Sweetie - for some reason I had it in my head that this wasn't autobiographical...so sorry - my brain isn't working properly right now...

I know it can be awful - my best friend either lost her purse or had it stolen and there are the 'nice' people at the bank demanding ID when she very obviously didn't have any...

sigh..

beauracrats...

Was this a recent event? (And I can just 'picture' you going out and doing that - yep, that's our staunchy Marge...)

And I love you!

BEEN THERE--had a purse 'snatched'--and I didn't realize just how much of my life I carried in that little bag until it was gone.

not very funny then, but i'm with you, ya gotta laugh!

heh, despite the circumstances involved, this was very humerous   Excellent work Marge, in making light of a terrible situation. Oh, and kudos on the polaroid thing, I woulda never thought of that.

This was too cute Marge...it's a real S-O-L situation in reality though...hope you didn't really lose that wallet though...have been there myself!!

By the way...I think this poem would "format" better like this...blah blah...LOL
(sound familiar?) Sorry...still stewing over that subject!!! Forgive me.

Kammie~
Not to sweat it!
Yes, it was real ... yes, I'm ALMOST over it.
LOL ... and yep it was recent.
Pain in the butt to prove who you are without the proper ID.  Crazy world we live in.  The thief could prove he was me, but I couldn't.
It is a little comedic now.

Serenity~
Sorry it happened to you too.
Thanks for laughing at er' with me !

Mistic~
Glad you found humor in my humor.
One good-looking cop asked me if I wanted
two prints for the price of one.
I told him I'd go for it ... but he'd have to take a rubber check, cause I HAD NO ID!

Devina~
FORMAT ?  FORMAT ? You little wench !
I'll show you FORMAT !
Check your METER .... it's running.
I'm gonna tell Balladeer on you ! !
Oh, boy ... this is FUN!
And if you believe that ....
I've got a house I want to sell you !
Now see what you've done ....
I'm wide awake again !

WHAT WONDERFUL FRIENDS YOU ALL ARE.

I notice no one offered the bail money !
Geesh !

Marge: You could always say

"You prove to me I'm not who I say I am"

Why is it the innocent have to prove themselves and the guilty get a free defense?

I am so sorry this happened to you!!!
As a private investigater this is a trick I learned. 2 photo copy your ID and carry that with you rather than the originial. This way you still have your ID with you and the thief  will find it too much trouble for his worth and just throw it away. hope this helps in some small way.

Hello Marge,
I liked your poem,
I lived in America for a short time and was unfortunate enough to loose my wallet at a gas station. I didn't notice until about Fifty miles later. When I returned I found it had been handed in and the man in the gas station had handed it over to the police. I had to drive another twenty miles to the police station to pick it up. But it was there. Cash,Cards everything. It restored my faith in people.
I never expected to see it again

PS--I'll come visit you in jail

Tried that once ... they just couldn't
fit that copy through the credit card machine.
Good idea for some things though.
Thanks for the reply, lady.

PMC~
You were very fortunate, indeed.
Thank you for liking and replying.

Balladeer~
Now that's an offer I couldn't refuse.
Bring it on !
I'll be eternally grateful.
I hereby agree to adhere to the regulations.
(what's that Nan always says .. SUBMIT ?)

Little Pepper~
Oh, I got spunk alright.
Glad to have given you a chuckle.
Thanks for the reply.

Martie~
Well I'll let you off the hook ...
ONLY because Balladeer is bring the
bail bucks !
Oh, yeah ... like the 'beautiful' thing
is an 'inside' job !
You trying to tell me
you're bringing a cake with a file 'inside'?

Thank you, Denise~

Today I had a visit from one of the
cops who investigated the incident.
Heh .... heh ... guess who has a
new date next week !

Of course BEFORE I accepted
I asked to see his ID !

Ladies ... I do NOT recommend this
as a new way to meet guys !
But there's just something about
those handcuffs !
