Special

I met a very interesting woman the other day.
She made me feel as if we would bond in some way.
I was attracted by her beauty.
Her personality kept beckoning me closer.
I have every intention to get to know her.
And now even though I barely know her
I am compelled to write poetry for her.
Just something to let her know I care
a poem to make her aware
that there's a guy in this city
that finds her alluring and pretty.
She made me happy because when I told her I wanted to reveal my feelings
she wanted to see what my heart was revealing.
Its funny how someone that you just meet
can make your life seem full and complete.

Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch
You never knew what I loved in you
I don't know what you loved in me
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be

Thanks Janet its interesting you would say that because In The Real World (also an Alan Jackson song)I have mixed reactions to my poems.  My friend KC is my favorite...she read my poetry {and I've written two for her} in its entirety and she smiled and laughed while she was reading it..and she was so intense I thought she was trying to memorize it, now some of the women that I have written poetry for have read just a small amount and then they put it in their purse and say they will finish it later, and my friend Caryn actually told me to my face that she hates poetry, so I don't think I'll be writing anymore for her...I did write Hollywood Movie Star for her because she did some live stage acting but she gave me one of those looks when I gave it to her so I took it back..ha..ha..My friends Tina and Sharna and Mich have been the most encouraging for me to continue writing.  Actually I wrote "Lady in Red" for KC also but I won't give her the credit.  She was the one who encouraged me to put the following line... after I had showed it to her one day.. into a poem.   "I eagerly await to taste you where you're soft and tender...much more tasty I'm sure than a Texas Rock and Roll Sashimi dinner."  There is a restaurant over here in Waikiki called the Texas Rock and Roll Sushi Bar.
Poet deVine Charla did inspire me to write the poem "When I Talk to You" which I posted in Critical Analysis on Nov. 19,1999.  It is one of my favorite poems but some in critical didn't like it too much.   Earlier this evening I emailed Ron and ask him if he could transfer it to open poetry six so if anyone wants to read about how Charla fascinated me...but only for a short time...they are welcome to read.  As I would soon find out Charla loved to dance..dance..dance..her love...her passion..my passions are scuba diving, hiking, suntanning, horseback riding, singing karaoke, movies, clubbing, and finally dancing.
So seven or eight seems about right on my list of passions and there is nothing wrong with a woman that loves to dance..only if she meets a man that just sorta likes to only do that occasionaly..so we found out that we were not that compatable...don't worry this happens all the time to me.  I sure as heck am in a chatty mood tonight.
Thank you Denise and Severn.  I appreciate your interest.      James

Well this is just my opinion, but I think some of those women need to have their hearts re-examined, I would be honored to have such beautiful poetry written for me, I think it is the greatest honor . Why I would framed it and show it to all my girl friends!.... It would even be a greater honor to have it read to me, with soft musci in the background etc.by the way! I like your poem!

Wow..romantic heart you are such a romantic woman but alas not all women are as lovely as you.  If you were my next door neighbor I
would be over first thing this evening with romantic music, wine, and yes poetry.  You are such an angel. I appreciate your romantic heart.    James

Kind of funny, isn't it James, how some are only interested in the quality of the gift and not in the fact you gave it to them? For someone to have a poem written for them is a huge compliment and they should take it like that. Do they have so many people writing poems about them that they can be picky? hehe. I think not. What would they think about a small child writing "From my head to my tummy.....I love you, mommy"? It's the thought and the sincerity and effort that counts. If they can't see that, move on. Others will appreciate it...guaranteed.

Yes Balladeer..I can remember a girl named Nancy Daughters writing a poem for me and my brother..and it went something like...Terry is dandy and James is handy...and she was referring to how much I loved to touch her and massage her neck..and I was crazy about that poem...we ended up going together for three years.  I suppose someone has to desire you as far as looks and personality before they desire a poem from you.  That is true..they probably don't receive that many poems...maybe love letters, candy, and flowers, but few poems.  I have wondered this..what type of woman would not appreciate poetry?

Romantic Heart this is too easy.  I live in Kapolei, Hawaii.  If you visit be sure to bring that romantic garden with you...ha..ha.
The song would be sung by Savage Garden..one of my favorites called "I Knew I Loved You",
the wine..how about Rosemount Estate MERLOT 1997...french bread and cheese included, and about one hundred candles...we could start lighting them at sunset and before they all burn out..we will share our poems.  I will read the one that I wrote for every tender lover...and you are definately qualified..."Love me tenderly", now which poem would you read to me...my love.  And as we begin to blow out the remaining candles we will share a soft and tender embrace.
James

You have expressed my dream of a very romantic evening to a tee! everything sounds nice and perfect! I could bring rose petals and spread them over our beach blanket...send me the tickets!!!HeeHee!

By the way...what are the words to that song?
I want to see every one of them...the poem would be "To Love Thee"...

Romantic heart alas we are so far apart and yet we both want the same thing...a romantic evening together.  You must have seen the movie American Beauty...they had a beautiful scene with lots of red rose petals.  The beach blanket and the rose petals is the touch that was missing...how blessed I am to have a romantic friend with a creative heart as well.
The essence of the song or the very heart is "A thousand angels dance around you.
I am complete now that I have found you."  Some of the sweetest words that could ever come from the mouth of a lover.  I'll e-mail the rest of the song to you....soon.
I printed your poem "To Love Thee..."
I love it...especially the line "I shall kiss thy lips so sweet"...kissing just melts me and softens my hearts more and more.  I love all those kisses.   How could anyone resist a heart as soft and beautiful as yours?  "For you are more, more precious than diamonds, or any heart to win."  Yes, a loving heart is more precious than diamonds.
Now my favorite line "I would hold thee forever..against me so tight."   Thank you for all the beauty you have placed into this poetry.    James
