Left Alone

We traveled together
along the road of life
        love our destination

I drove you
        wild with desire
and you drove me
        crazy with your passion

We mapped out uncharted territories
        with our hands and lips
leaving trails
        on each otherís bodies

We traveled together
crossing oceans
        of longing
mountains
        of fear
and rivers
        of regret

But somewhere along the way
we made a wrong turn

Now youíre traveling on
and Iím left alone
in the back seat of your mind

(The challenge from Lost Dreamer was to use the line "left alone in the back seat of your mind " in a poem. Just a little interesting fact, this poem can be read two ways, using or not using the indented lines)

†The poet's job is to put into words those feelings we all have that are so deep, so important, and yet so difficult to name, to tell the truth in such a beautiful way that people cannot live without it. ~Jane Kenyon

...and we have no choice, but to start that engine one more time, do we?... You say a lot here, hoot.  You never know - the next ride may be the best you've ever had..

Hoot~

This is just fascinating
not only the words you
use but the format is intriguing too.
Much said here in both lovely poems.
You are wonderfully gifted.

Hello hoot,

Wow ! You are are indeed gifted.

This is my first visit to Passions poetry and I am delighted to find so much inspiration and talent.

I hope to gather up my guts to post my own poem some day.

Keep those words flowing !!

This was quite racey until the unfortunate ending.  I hope this isn't a true story.  I liked this one.  Thank you.

Amazed at this....truly amazed at the double poem within the poem.  Fantastic Ruth

ooohh, I like this one.  Written with a grace that only you eminate, Ruth.  Beautifully spoken words, poignantly sad.
