I came back to find many things had changed
where it was has no meaning, just that it's familiar
I cannot place my hands where they used to rest
so comfortably as I listened to your soft breathing
I cannot escape the leaving moments
frozen like a fly watching a hand inch closer
Do I just fade away now,
into the lost where my memories lay
I should not be that way
for I lack the conviction to leave this world
nor would I bend so low as to bring that shame home
.I will forget

(not a personal thing so don't worry about crazy old bowie)

Sometimes the only thing we can do is try to forget...it's not always easy but we have to deal with the pain and go forward. I'm glad this isn't about you. Good poem!
