Tonight I am held
within the measured arc
of this old weathered rocker...
this rocker that once
knew your mending.
The quarter moon
is caught in the walnut tree,
and I am marking time,
moving only with the
heavy  breathing  of the mountain,
intent on wind
to clear the mist below.

An owl laments
in shrill echo
through the cove.
My fingers, knuckle white,
clutch these worn
splintered arms,
as back and forth
I sway in eerie silence,
still locked within your rhythms...
Rhythms I cannot
bend from mine.

Franni,
This poet has been in hiding, and now appears with exquisite verse, which has me wondering why I didn't know of her talent. But now I do and look forward to more postings.
Franni, you are amazing
