Realization

Meaningless words
written into a poem;
the out pouring of my heart;
feelings I can't seem to get across to you.

I try to tell you of my love,
but it all seems so senseless.
I tell you I love you,
but you don't reply.
I put all of my love into a kiss ,
but you don't respond.
I reach for your hand,
but you pull it away from me.

Confused and hurt,
I try to hide behind a dream.
I picture us together in paradise...
always a happy ending;
then I see that look in your eye
and all my illusions fall to the ground,
shattering into tiny pieces
that even the slightest breeze
blows away.

Again I am left empty.

Then I realize,
you can not fill the gap in my life...
I had just tried to shove you in
for want of something better
to fill the empty space;
and so I let you go.

Maybe someday,
I will find the person I need
and I too will be needed.
Somewhere out there,
somebody has a place in his life
just big enough for me to fit in.

 The poet's job is to put into words those feelings we all have that are so deep, so important, and yet so difficult to name, to tell the truth in such a beautiful way that people cannot live without it. ~Jane Kenyon

Hoot~

Letting go of hopes, dreams of paradise
and of love is hard.
Great big hugs to you.

'Somewhere out there,
somebody has a place in his life
just big enough for me to fit in.'

And you will find that place.
Love n' hugs ~*Marge*~

Ruth, This poem is both sad, and beautiful in the way you write it. You have so much to offer one who shares your heart, and he's out there somewhere looking for you.

Yes, I feel the pain in this too and I hope that you find a better companion in the future.

Ruth, with your qualities and character, you ARE needed! Too bad that there are so many idiots out there that don't recognize that fact. Keep the faith, my friend.

Lovely.....waiting for happiness can be hard. We must find our own first, then wait to see if there is someone out there that will share in it....

oh Ruth, this is so sad yet so beautiful...

I try to tell you of my love,
but it all seems so senseless.
I tell you I love you,
but you don't reply.
I put all of my love into a kiss ,
but you don't respond.
I reach for your hand,
but you pull it away from me.

I can relate to these words Ruth.
Well Done Ruth.

None of the words you write are meaningless Ruth. This one is full of meaning. Reality can sometimes be a hard pill to swallow. But all you can do is move on to brighter tomorrows. There is that special someone out there for you, I just know it! In the meantime, keep writing your beautiful poetry! HUGS

Ruth, I think I can safely speak for everyone when I say you already hold a speial place in all our hearts.

Keep looking...he's out there.  He just doesn't know you yet.

Loved this piece btw.
