Trail of Tears

Looking through the nursery window
A proud tear in his eye
Trying not to let them flow
A deep breathe and a sigh

A Band-Aid for her knee
And a kiss to make it better
To his heart she holds the key
And every one of his love letters

The front row for graduation
Sobbing holding her diploma
A car to say congratulations!
She off to college in Oklahoma

He walks her down the aisle
And a with a long hug goodbye
For this, he’d have walked a mile
She’s on her own now, and needs to fly

She looks at the gravestone
Thinking about the years
And all the love he’d shown
Turning, she leaves a trail of tears

This is so touching, Marina. I think many of us can relate to that trail of tears. Very well done.

StarrGazer: I think I could have saved myself a lot of time if I had just read your small print."Life begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a tear"
I think it sums up this poem beautifully!

Marina. . . I have walked that trail several times myself. . . does it get any easier?  I would say that it doesn't . . . but we have to know that we never walk alone. . .

Beautiful words. . . they really spoke to me. . .

This was quite beautiful, Marina... made me cry.  I'm not looking forward to this particular trail of tears in my future but I  wish you love in yours.  This was a wonderful poem.
