How many times must I feel defeat-
Before love’s victory is mine?
How long must I wait for You-
Before I run out of time?

Much of my life has been mistakes-
But how long am I to be judged?
I can’t erase the depths of time-
When will I ever feel loved?

Not as a friend, but as a lover-
I starve for the affection you give,
My life has never been solely my own-
For everyone else- I’ve always lived.

For once, if I might be so selfish-
I look for a warm loving heart,
To bring me passionate whispers-
To fulfill each and every part.

*Do I dare ask you to start…?*

Open arms can be the most fragile in the world...

Oh this is tantalizing.  Full of longing and yet a fear.  Wow...this reaches deep within.  Beautifully done, devina.  Quit waiting I say...but then I'm always a sucker for a dare.

I find myself echoing these words often, excellent work devina. I am sure the right guy will come along soon.

Devina, this is beautiful, I can relate to these for lines...

Not as a friend, but as a lover
I starve for the affection you give,
My life has never been solely my own-
For everyone else- I’ve always lived.

beautiful.

Very nice poem to read.

Such longing in your heart
to have love there to start
someone to free your soul
allow inner spirit to grow

Hope he shows up soon (riding a white horse)

This is so beautifully done, Devina. I remember being in that place feeling as you are feeling now....patience, it will happen when you are least expecting it!

Beautiful work from a heart so true.  Your poetry has grace and style I enjoyed this and many of your others as well.  You have a gift that someone one day will cherish until the end of time....don't settle for any less than that.

Devina. . .twice tonight you have spoken to me. . . I know where you're coming from on this one. . .

There are times that you have to live for others and there are times that you have to live for yourself. . . but you have to know which times are which. . .
