Still In Love With You

I woke up this morning
Forced my eyes to meet the dawn
Dreams of you still lingering,
I guess my heart's not moving on.

So I,
Stumbled through what was a home
Made myself a bite to eat.
It's been,
Many days that you've been gone
And my life's been incomplete.

And I,
Spend my days a-wonderin' why
I'm still in love with you
Each night as I lay down to cry
I'm still in love,
Still in love,
With you.

As I,
Drove in our old pickup truck,
To face this day alone,
I passed that place I lost my luck;
Oh I wish that I'd have known.

That there'd,
Come a day I'd have to face
The pain of losing you.
I'd end up stuck in second place,
And have to start anew.

I should have changed a million things
I should have held you close.
I should have shown the love I have,
When you needed it the most.

‘Cause I,
Spend my days a-wonderin' why
I'm still in love with you
Wish I could go back in time,
‘Cause I'm still in love,
Oh I'm still In love,
With you.

Now just as a disclaimer: This is not about anything current, this isn't about anyone else. The inspiration for this came from a conversation with a close friend last night, so here it is. If it sounds like a bad country song, that's because that's what it is. I have the tune still stuck in my head, so give me a break! LOL!

Psssttt...I'm gonna hunt you and Michael down this weekend!  EEeeekkkk!   (Packing my heavy-duty duct tape, and wire!)     Coming right through your neck of the woods!  hehe  Scarey thought, 'eh?  Hope you lose some sleep over it too!!

ARGH!!!!!!! *Mistikman goes running to the hills from the Country music*

But seriously, great poem/song   I grew up with songs like this, and have been forever warped because of it.

Ok....now that I've stopped laughing.... this probably would be a hit in the C&W market! Full of guilt and pickup trucks... A little different than what we've come to expect from you...I love it!!! Stretch those artistic muscles!

You get your house back and your car, job, wife...hehehe

Good job Chris!

I'm so thrilled with the email you sent me, I can hardly stand it. You are so kind to thank me privately. I love this poem and can only imagine that your voice would lend itself to the singing of it most magnificently. Thank you.

Enjoyed this piece.
Actually, it's got promise with a
country tune flair.
You and Michael have a nice weekend.

Uh huh... I see how it works...
Last weekend there was a PIP party in Florida - this weekend there's one in California...

Well, I've got one brewing here in a couple of weeks myself... See if I care that none of you invited me... Nope - I'm not mad... Not even a little...

BTW - Neato poem...

Ok, I can see my attempt at humor has met with mixed reactions!

Christopher - Thank you for clearing that up for everyone!

Gen - Go change your diaper! And I didn't know you were going to be in the area! If I would have, I'd have rented out the nearest bomb-shelter! LOL

Devina - Thanky-you berry much! Why I do believe you'se jumped right into the spirit of it!

Michael - Yeah, but I forgot the part about my mom getting out of jail, only to get run over by a train!

Mistikman - You can come hide in the bomb shelter with me and Mike... I promise, nothing but good ol' rock n' roll!

Michael - Hehehehe! -or- Haw-haw-haw!

Sharon - I like trying different things... keeps me (and everyone else) on their toes!

Gen - Devina's coming too? Geesh, sounds like Mike and I are in for a rough time of it! LOL

Michael - Tell me it aint so!!!

Becca - EXACTLY! LOL, but I also heard you go to hell for playing music backwards...LOL

Kess - I read what you wrote before, ahem. S'ok, we'll chat about it later...

Devina - COWARD!!!

Oscar - Thank you for another kind reply.

Roniece - Thank you!!! There are advantages to being far away... For example, you don't have to hide in the bomb shelter with me Mike and Mistikman.

Marge - Will do! And thank you, though I think I'd die laughing if this ever actually became a song!!!

Ruth - LOL, Actually, he's one of the few country singers I like, so we won't ruin is career with this! LOL, Thank you!!!

Nan - I SWEAR that I only knew of Mike coming down. Gen and Devina are news to me! If I'd have known it was going to turn into a party, I'd have invited everyone!

Ali - ROFL! I hear you! And someone put a tear in my beer too! LOL

So thats how you write country poetry. I was thinking as I was reading this.... why does this poem sound like a country song..... good one.
