The Marionette
By bboog

She asked her husband
for permission
to have a birthday party.
He gave her his decision
she must hold it indoors.
On September 4
from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.
So she wrote out the invitations
and sent them to her friends.

When the appointed day came
Black heels and dress
Were her clothes.
Her nylon strings were attached
to a wooden crossbar
and were hooked to her arms
And her black pantyhose.

She flirted and smiled,
Her new dress in style
She drank wine
and smoked
There were plenty of folks
Having fun.

No one seemed to notice
Her husband,
upstairs
bending forward,
Pulling gently on the strings.
Always in control.

Without a doubt, one of the best poems I have seen displayed here. Everything tied together very nicely from the beginning....her asking permission, him specifying the date and time....all the way down to the last line "Always in control". Excellent writing.
