The waves wash over me
Whispers in my ear
Haunting melody
A song I've come to fear
Pulls me down below
Drowns me in its tears
Tells me where to go
But I just stay right here

And my soul cries out in pain
Grips me endlessly
Then darkness comes with rain
Come to carry me
And I would fall from grace
If they would let me be
In the waves I see your face
Looking back at me

Intriguing title...don't know if this applies, but once when someone asked me why I was standing in the rain, I replied, "I was BORN wet."  Now the visual of that remark
may be disgusting to you, but there is a deeper wisdom there, and you have put it much more nicely, I might add.

And my soul cries out in pain
Grips me endlessly
Then darkness comes with rain
Come to carry me
And I would fall from grace
If they would let me be
In the waves I see your face
Looking back at me
