A Yearning Thing

She is so sure of love
for her body is ripe with knowing
all the intricacy of playing
this part that unfolds.

Romance
you are a yearning thing
in dreams with dancing
and in grace your glance
becomes her with a smile.

You sway with her
she splendid in fabric
that whispers
and feels the rhythm
of mood through your fingers.

She knows
from your sweet dictionary
when to step or turn
and dip into that place
where stars hang upside down
on patios overlooking water.

The moon is always there
for it is the voyeur
who watches shadows embrace
and carves silhouettes
upon the portico.

You are always bright and warm
and instead of talk
you whisper and the meaning
catches the fabric of moments
with a breeze across her ear.

The music shimmies in folds
from water cascading
while stars dislocate and blaze
on an eyelid soft against
the velvet sheet of evening.

Ah Romance
she dreams you softly
each night in virgin bed
and waits with withering light
to see again
your love step
into her twilight.

Lovely imagery Martie! This is soft and gently...like viewing this scene in a haze...

Martie~
So sensual.

'when to step or turn
and dip into that place
where stars hang upside down
on patios overlooking water.'

I was going to pick out a favorite line ...
but then I'd just have to copy
the entire poem.

Beautiful muse dancing here.

Stunning work, Martie.

"The music shimmies in folds
from water cascading
while stars dislocate and blaze
on an eyelid soft against
the velvet sheet of evening."

This is absolutely exquisite.  You've left me breathless.

Someone else may have invented the English language but you have perfected it. Brilliant!

How do you do it woman? You have painted such a wonderful "picture" here. I almost felt like I was there with them. Beautiful!
