500 Love Songs

If I could sing a sad sad love song,
or play and sing the blues....
I'd sing and sing of years of loving,
but never finding you.

If I could sing of life and longing,
with this guitar, I keep in tune…
I'd sing of kisses not belonging,
to any girl but you.

If I was given a voice from heaven,
to serenade the youth...
My melodies would all be wasted,
till the day that they touched you.

If I had written 500 love songs,
to sanctify this truth…
My words would sing of finding someone,
and I'd sing them all to you.

James Parker Haley  Mar 9, 2000.

So unlike you to put your flare of romance to break all the girls hearts with your 500 post announcement. Congratulations and would you settle for a chorus of "He's a Romantic Fellow" in return?

love songs - nothing but love songs - 24 soul wrenching hours a day - love songs....
I suppose they're great if you're in love - sigh.  Seriously, great poem, Haleyja.  holds a dreamy aspect to it.

Lost Dreamer thank you and thank you.

A Romantic Heart, yes and as amazing as it sounds I do it all while I'm sleeping.

Sweet devina, I will and you keep doing what you do... you know that ah.. you know.. cause you do it sooo well.

Marge, I hope she does... and maybe you can email me and tell who she is, so I know too..      and thank you.

Thanks Marina, yes so unlike me... I just write, I know not what it does to the lady folk. If you want to do that chorus then may i suggest a new wave acid rock country version and a low down southern backbeat.

Corinne, thank you.... ah Parie in the spring... come sip wine with me on the cafe' walks, a deep red Merlot to soften the glow.
I can hear that train a callin.... next stop Flowering Pacifica and a lovely strangers lips.

Michael, thank you, I know you not much in this frame of mind, thank you for reading.

Julie thank you, how's the long distance friendship coming along.

Meadowmuse, thank you, any rumors you've heard are greatly exaggerated I hope.

Poet deVine, so how long before I get to Member Emeritus....... another goal, I had better start planning that poem... Hopefully it will be steamy, wheres that train.

Thanks again........ and I'm off to Florida for two weeks, I will miss you all. if I can't get a free connection down there, then you'll all be free of my overly romantic verse.

Parker... cat screeching singer that I am.

Parker~
Whereabouts are you heading in Florida?
Seems several of Passion's finest are here
for a visit ....

Elizabeth Santos is at Pepper's.
LongJohn and Lorelei are visiting
also in the same area with Balladeer
and Fran and Seymour and Isabel.
They are 'painting' the town with
their laughter.

Seems the great Sunshine State
welcomes you all.

A Romantic Heart, right now truly if I could sing, Celtic love songs, if their are such a thing.

Marge, Orlando, Daytona, Fort Lauderdale, and the Keys, and back... its a beach hoppin kinda trip.
I'll keep an eye out for strange characters on the beach reading poetry out loud.

Well for my last song of the evening....

One Tequila, two Tequila, three Tequila... Floor.
