Evening's Illusion

It has been a day of calm.
The sky has stayed
a deepened shade of turquoise,
and now is deepening still.
A creekrock sort of purple
forming just there,
along the edges,
moving in.
The sun begins to lower itself
toward the earth's eyes,
and shadows form,
as shadows will.
Children play, enjoying
the last few minutes of their day.
Parents talk in kitchens,
before dark.
I move through
the empty house
turning on lamps and listening
to sounds of the evening's approach,
wondering what night
will bring.

Dear LadyClaire

Simply awesome

This brings about the feelings of me wanting to go home......to be there before that sun sits.  Beautiful picture painted with your words

You painted a beautiful picture with your words, a work of art that I could look at each day and never see everything that it has to offer.

merlynh, Dickens also said, "Darkness is cheap, and Scrooge liked it."  *smile* Thanks for reading.

serenity...thank you for reading and letting me know you enjoyed it.

First Knight...that feeling of ending the day among the things of you, in the place of you, and with the knowledge that you can be you...I know what you mean. Thank you for reading this.

Butterflies...I'm glad you enjoyed the picture...thank you for your lovely response.

Marge lady *grin* Thanks a bunch, so glad to know you liked this one.

As you may have been able to discern from some of my poems, I enjoy calm of the night, and to say I enjoy your wonderful words here would be an understatment.

With each poem, you share something new. With your talent, even if you wrote nothing but night poems, we'd find something unexpected and waiting to be discovered in each one. Keep it up!

hey now - I like Darkness - does that make me a scrooge?  Hope not - cause I love this poem and I don't think Scrooge loved anything - at least not at first...
You poems are nothing short of enchanting, Claire.

Marina, thank you for reading and sharing such a nice comment.

(bsq)Mike...Night time is when I find myself writing the most...perhaps I should take out my laptop during the day and see what happens. Thank you for reading.

Michael...no, that certainly doesn't make you a Scrooge...   It was just the only Dickens line about darkness that I could remember! Thanks, Michael.

Mars, you liked that? Thanks for reading and letting me know. (o:
