How Do I Let Go, How Do I Forget

How do I let go
of everything we used to share
How do I forget
all the love that was there

How do I let go
without putting up a fight
How do I forget
that very first night

How do I let go
when I want to get closer
How do I forget
when there's much to remember

How do I let go
of a love so true
How do I forget
the part of me that's you

"The part of me that's you".....what a line.  Very nice way of ending this pain...I can relate.  I can only say that you have to take that part, and create something new and alive from it.  Something different, that doesn't hurt.  One has to find his/her own happiness, and it's easier to find it in within yourself instead of others.  Really nice poem!

Touching questions...sometimes we don't get the answers to these questions... good poem.

I know the feelings you convey, and the questions you ask, all too well. I have been exploring the same for some time now, if I find the answers I'll let you know.

Nice writing.  Its easier to let go when you do it both for yourself and for the other.   If I am ready to move on I don't need someone pulling on my arm or wrapping themselves around my legs..and get those claws out of me...I must move on..and I will.  You must let go and you shall.   Sad but true.  Oh, but the forgetting...a very slow process..but it does have a beginning and an end...or if you like a strong period and a time when the feeling or pain will diminish.      James

Thank you all so much for your responses
they mean a lot to me.

I would like to say that the process of letting go and forgetting is a difficult one...but I made it through....you see, this poem was written some time ago and once I realized that what I was holding on too wasn't a good thing it was much easier to let go of. I'll never forget completely but I did let go and manage to find something much much better.....MYSELF!!!

After finding out more about me I was able to find the love of my life and that is something I'll never want to let go of or even begin to forget!!!!

love you all,
Alina Le Ann
