The Racket Of Her Love

Off the red brick wall was usually one on one play
but in the heat of the moment this day
she decided to try her hand at the soft green clay.

The ball missed totally and over the fence
it bounced forever into the woods
never a slight chance for a hit in defense.

The serve came to her smooth with a slight spin
she stepped to greet the tennis ball
as the green clay court gently kissed her chin.

Over the net he flew like a bird with wings
to the fallen lady with his assistance,
she slowly realizes the smile he brings.

The racket of her love sits alone hardly used
as a player she could not seem to be
on a green clay court she becomes bruised.
