Upon this wall I perch
Seeing and hearing all
For her beauty I search
My heart it does enthrall

Seeing that which I cannot touch
At times it seems too much
Why am I forbidden in her world
She made mine become unfurled

So I sit here and observe
As she smiles and laughs
How could she have the nerve?
I feel she is my other half

So I sit here, watching from a distance
Her unaware of my existence
Completely removed from her life
Forced to sit back and watch with strife

Seeing her happy without me
Makes me want to crawl
Over to her and voice my plea
But alas, I am just a fly upon the wall

Excellent poem. Don't feel so bad because you are not the only person who has experienced this.  Look ahead to the future and you will no longer feel like a fly on the wall!

Oh Jeeze that is a painful place to be.  hard not to just fly off that wall and pester the heck out of them too, I bet.  Can relate, Mistikman.  Good poem.

Well done...and a hurtful situation to be sure.

Nicely expressed.

Interesting rhyme scheme..and a good poem. Keep your chin up or someone will swat that fly on the wall!

You caught me with this title...I've often wanted to be a fly on the wall...but in this case, not a good thing to be, eh?

busylisa_ca- The future is hard to see when all I can see is her... Thank you...

Michael- Oh don't I know it. I used to talk with her all the time, but I agreed to stop trying to get her to like me, because it was hurting her every time she rejected me, so now all I can do is sit back and watch her enjoy life... Thank you...

Severn- Thank you

Poet deVine- It would be grande if someone would swat me and put me out of this misery, heh.

passing shadows- Thanks

hoot_owl_rn- Oh, it feels like about the worst place to be right now. I have the same Calculus class as her, so I anticipate and dread going there. I want to see her, but I know seeing her hurts more than anything else. Thank you.

Mistik, you keep making me think of the poems I've written...

Sometimes It Hurts

sometimes it hurts to look at you
knowing you won't love the way I do
but still seeing something you don't want me to see
like maybe you want but just can't love me

sometimes it hurts to sit beside you
drawn in too quickly, too deep inside you
knowing how wrong it is to be
inside of a world that isn't free

sometimes it hurts to think about you
when I sit in the darkness alone without you
and want so badly for you to come
to show me where I can get light from

sometimes it hurts but other times it doesn't
sometimes I think it was when it wasn't
or I think it wasn't when it was
but I'll keep holding on because

there's no other like you near or far
I like these things the way they are
I say I'll leave but you know I won't

sometimes it hurts...sometimes it don't.

Funny I should find this poem here, after just the other day reading about fly spies, the future of  spie  tactics and thinking how I had often wished to be a fly on the wall but thinking in reality this might not be such a great thing. Next thing we know we might even be allowed a private thought, and that is scary..

Septsong- Well, im not really talking about spying or anything like that. I am talking about being forced into that position, where I am not allowed to take part in her life, and all I can do is watch from a distance. Thanks anyway though
