Serenaded To Sleep

You laid your head
on my pillow last night,
snuggled up close
to my ear,
and began to sing to me.

Your song
soothed my mind
and I drifted off,
content in its melody.

I could feel your warmth
beside me
through out the night;
your breath falling
softly upon my neck;
and each time I woke,
you serenaded me
back to sleep
with your song.

When daylight broke
through the windows,
I reached to touch your body,
stroke your fur;
and once more
you began to purr.

 Have you ever noticed
That the words...
"Goodbye"
"I'm sorry"
"I love you"
Are so easy to pronounce
...Yet so hard to say
~Javan

Ruth, you got my heart with this one, how precious the love of a dear kitty cat. That sound could serenade anyone to sleep.

Beautiful Ruth. Nothing like that sort of song to relax you and send you drifting into a peaceful sleep. I loved the surprise ending.

Ruth !

You got me with the twist !
Here I thought you got lucky
with a balladeer !
(not to be confused with THE Balladeer)
(hmmmm !  He does profess to be a
wandering minstrel)?
LOL !
I really adore this !
Wonderful to see your humor, gal !

Yet again, another beautiful poem.  You never cease to amaze me.  I loved the twist at the end, here I thought you were talking about a man, when instead you were talking about your cat, that is very sweet.

Take care,

Hoot: This is a cute poem that might be even better with just a few adjustments. I think that you repeat the word "song" too much.
For example: Instead of
"snuggled up close
to my ear,
and began to sing to me."
Maybe:
"snuggled up close
to my ear
and hummed a lullabye to me"
This is your poem and I did enjoy it, then again, I am new here so maybe I'm being too direct. (Feel free to rip into my posts too- in this forum and the critical one.) Best of luck to you.

What a funny twist at the end!  You took us down one road and quickly shifted gears!

I like that!

This is a keeper! Reminds me of my baby Tia...she was always such a comfort to me.
The poem was good when i thought it was a man, and it was excellent when i found out it was a cat!

Everyone...thanks for reading and your remarks...glad you liked the twist.

bboog...hey, I listen to any and all comments posted on my poetry. Actually I really don't care a lot for this one, but considering my lack of inspiration as of late, right now I'll take any subject matter I can come up with. Feel free to make suggestions at will, I never mind.
