march 6

the day you grew wings
and I earthbound
cried out to you
with love and despair
like never felt before
shall forever mark
the calendar with my missing
I wish you could come back
and take the rest of me
with you

the bubbles in the sink

she did her kitchen magic
and I call it magic because
she couldn't even recall you
what she threw together
to make them exclaim
and ask for more,
it was the day before
the day that you left
two years past
and in her mind she was
with you, this earthly
vestige could not hold
her spirit from joining yours
in the clouds
remembering smiles and
soft kisses
and touches so delicate
so real…
so far from the dishes
that now need washed
and the tears that softly join
the bubbles in the sink.

I miss him too

in between the windex spray
and the paper towel swirls
and just before she fell to tears
she said I am sorry
I just can't hold it together
any more
and with sincerity the mirror
looked back and said
its ok girl,
you go ahead and cry
I understand
I miss him too

the three of us

I sit and have to wonder
just who is it I miss,
and for whom do I cry
is it him or you
or maybe me
I seem to have lost me
somewhere in the process
of losing him and finding you
you held me up when his
heart stopped
but now its time for you
to go too
and I still can't find me

the optometrist philosophy

if I wore colored contacts
and my eyes
were no longer brown
would you then, my friend
have what it is I need?
would I with green,
color you with life
desire and happiness,
could I with blue
paint your heart as mine and
color me what you need?
would a year and then
just one more day
be enough for your
eyes to see the man
that mine see
for if you are not what
I need, can you please
tell my brown eyes to
stop caring,
to stop crying…
I am confused

The combination of excellent poetry and daily tasks, amazingly well done

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Corazon~
I share the marked calendar
this time of year.

'the day you grew wings
and I earthbound
cried out to you
with love and despair
like never felt before
shall forever mark
the calendar with my missing'

Just beginning to even try to heal
from the wounds of losing a sister.
Your words reached out to me ....

These are lovely and heartbreaking, dear friend. That girl in the mirror isn't the only one who understands how much you can miss not just him, but also the you that you were with him. Anniversaries will always bring memories... I pray for the day when your memories bring smiles.

Corazon,

This is amazing writing, so real, so emotional. I was right there with those emotions and the saddness.
This is one of my favorites, thank you for sharing this.
