End of a Golden State

Far above these reddish golden gates,
a shimmering northern reflection plays,
along the rivers and silent bays
finally running into the sea.
But urban sprawl is blinding me.

Where is home now, we wonder?
We’ve searched this land, but no answers were found,
we covered distances, calculated differences,
tossed three coins to the wind,
whispered prayers in the pre-dawn hours
to find they never reached higher powers.

It’s up to us to make our way now.
Although I admit to being afraid,
I won’t let fear stand in the way.
So, plunge into a sea of change,
all will fall into the space,
and into the time
God has predestined.
Nothing can change that.

I pray for you, too, love, and think your name,
as I drift into fitful dreams of tomorrow.

This is beautiful Corinne ... if we let fear stand in our way this world would not exist

Change is usually not easy. Often it is scarey. Your poem reflects that and ends on a note of Divine Providence. I like that! Well done, Corinne!

Corinne, It seems that change just never ends, I look forward to the day to rest from some of its challanges. On the other hand change brings a newness to life and washes away the tired past. So here's to you and a sweet new future, so dive into the sea and remember the buddy system, swim with a friend.

Corinne~
So deep an ocean
couldn't hold all your emotion.
This is just wonderful.
Pensive.
