I Touch The Flame

I touch the flame
upon the wick
of your candle
knowing
that's the closest
I'll ever be
to your heart.
It flickers in unison
with the pulse of my soul,
only my pulse beats faster
with the thought of you.
I watch the candle
as it's flame
floats me away
day dreaming
about the glowing smile
upon your face,
the intensity of your bright
spectrum personality
that lights up
even the darkest corner
of my mind.
As I return to reality
the flickering of the flame
has died
I go over and touch
the cold wick
and my heart stops beating.
