Morning's VineyardAs I walk between the heathers Down through the moistened mounds There arise, though slow and softly, Dawn's distant morning sounds The serenade of sun~birth Whispers low and o'er the sea And in the vineyards yonder Doth my love await for me He said to come at daybreak And now day is breaking free As I gather up my skirts and hasten, Through the lavender fields I flee With the thrum of intonation The larks and thrushes stir And murmur as my footfalls 'Pon the meadow's floor infer That my love is nigh and waiting In the vineyard just beyond Where the hedgerows part the grasses Past the drowsy olive pond And I wonder if they've seen him Strolling 'neath the emerald hues Through the vines of morning's vineyard To await his love's enthuse Breathing in the earth's aroma I sweep swiftly to the place Cast my eyes about the vineyard But see not my love's fine face Nor hear sounds of any running Nothing moves, my sight implies As I listen, still, in silence Something old within me cries And as I wake in dreamlight's dawning Soft, in sheets of heirloom lace Visions fresh, of morning's vineyards Pour vintage tears upon my face  Claire |

I must say this - you are so cool. Your poetry blows me away at times. This one surely did. Such vivid imagery all through this piece...it floated, then crashed to tears at the end. Beautiful work, Claire. I stand in awe. Michael |

In early morning hours I cast my eyes on this and felt that such enchanting poem should have end in bliss But knowing also that love is not always free I think the ending suits the poem done by thee A tear went down my pillow as watch and read This truly is a poem to make my heart weep Your words are written so soft with such loving tenderness May god always protect thee and forever bless Your truly are a poet of great divine May the sun above there always, on thee shine ((((you)))) L. & .S.P The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |

The pictures you paint with your words are beyond words of mine. I am breathless due to the beautiful, charming imagery in this poem. I cannot think of anything that is wonderful enough to describe this feeling i have after reading, no breathing, this poem. |

Claire, This poem reminded me of Emily Dickinson: heartfelt, beautiful, transcendental and rhythmic. The only thing that keeps it from fully being Dickinsonian is a lack of too many dashes! Believe me, I can definitely live with that. Great job. Mike |
