PARADISE

The razor cuts my heart.
The coldness shuts my eyes.
And silence is all I hear,
As the winds of change arise.
I live my life while total darkness
Holds me deep within its throes.
I live my life the vision of a man
That no one really knows.

They see a painted picture,
Think they can peel the guise.
But they could never understand
What goes on behind these eyes.
For I see a world of many,
And I see a world of few.
But I couldn't love just anyone,
I had to love just you.

So as I walk the future,
Bidding the past adieu.
Most everyplace I see that face,
But just walk right on through.
For I know my destiny
Might lie on wings of chance.
Still, when I stare in the mirror,
I see no backwards glance.

For I have a tunnel vision
That draws me toward a light
I'm not sure what I'll find there,
But I know I've paid the price.
Still I may never reach it,
And effort alone may not suffice.
But if I do, maybe it's true,
I'll find my paradise.

A land where there's no sorrow.
A land where there's no pain.
A land where there's no emptiness.
A land where there's no rain.
A place that's not a giant stage,
Where I just act out my part.
But a place where it won't hurt to dream,
Or rest an aching heart.

Michael Anderson

WOW!!
You have a heck of a way with word`.
I can see that your heart ache`s for another.
There is no feeling in the world that compares to a broken heart.
I guess I didn`t need to tell you that.
Ya know what you should do?
Go out and have some drink`s,find a girl and....aaahhh never mind.lol
Hope all work`s out ok for ya.
Excellent wording here on this piece.
Thank you for the read Michael.

Michael~
Rest your aching heart, love,
for there will come
a peace beyond compare.

Your rested heart will again know the joy
of loving from deep within ...
and you will recognize
what it is not.

M, this is so amazing...it speaks volumes...the emotions of the "man inside"... his vision...so well expressed...and as always...the search for the light...never stop looking for it...

& when you find paradise...send us directions...we can have one heck of a beach party(smile)jm

You're going to hear my voice in the morning calling your name
And know my love and my desperation were one and the same...
Baby it's alright...
Take this pain and all this sadness
It's alright
Take this rain
You're going to be free...

Haunting yes, but sad, no, because you describe the light at the end of the tunnel.

So, I see this poem as more of a contrast between the shades of dark and light.

Quite beautiful, really.

No, I don't really know you, but we seem to be sharing a similar pain.  And I do envy
your particular grace and strength.  You make me want to do better.

Michael I have to go with Corinne on this one.  Very beautiful, but more importantly, the light is there for you..all you have to do is walk to it.

This passage stood out as I read this piece...you've brought contrasting themes together so well here. You certainly can write, Mr. Anderson.

Don't ever give up
One thing I learned in life to be true
Well done your poem Michael
You certainly have a way to express your feelings well

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

I have to agree with Claire, those were my favorite lines as well.  Sheer eloquence, Michael.

--Kess

Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

~michael

this was a poem of sheer elegance and grace, written so beautifully. this one had a theme that is a little different from your other pieces, one of hope. never lose hope or faith, and one day you will be guided to that "light". just believe in yourself, for you are a wonderful and remarkable poet and human being. hugs!

devina, I agree with you 100%, I just can't seem to stop it from happening.  I'm hangin', though.

RufffRyder, No feeling in the world even comes close.

Marge, I certainly hope so.  I feel like I keep stepping in that same whole on that same street...when will I learn?

Janet, I will never stop reaching for that light...I'll see you at the party.

Corinne, you are right.  It is a contrast of dark and light.  Moreover, it's a refusal to stay in the dark - to reach the light at any cost.

Sven, I sure hope so.

Serenity, that alone is reason enough for me to write..TY

Compgirl, I'm alread crazy...but I will live for today.

Longjohn, 'tis but my soul that writes for me, truly.

Amy, I think hope will be a theme in my writings always.  Without it - why would I even bother?

Thank you all for the kind comments.

Michael
