The neighbor screamed, and then she wept,
And all the while, the children slept,
Young mother dead, on bathroom floor,
What evil's lurk, behind closed door?

Sirens blaring, cops on the run,
No one is there, to face the gun,
Ruled homicide, remained unsolved,
Husband's guilty, but law absolved.

For twenty years, a daughter cried,
Since early morn, when mother died,
Was forced to live, with Daddy dear,
A life of hell, of constant fear.

Down deep within, a seething rage,
Was forced to live, in Satan's cage,
She came of age, and moved away,
But still within, did black void stay.

New chance at life, a daughter born,
But still inside, lay deadly morn,
Then comes the news; investigation,
Case reopened; trepidation.

At twenty-six, a life of pain,
Will memories, fore'er remain?
To come to court, so many years,
How can the law, erase the tears?

A hearing held, a painful past,
Brought back to life, dark shadows cast,
Sentence rendered, his natural life,
Small price to pay for murdered wife.

A ray of light, into her heart,
Perhaps a chance, to gain new start,
For twenty years, a daughter's quest,
A mother's soul, at last at rest.

The only thing, that's left to tell,
Granddaughter's name, I know it well,
A daughter's love, a daughter's pain,
Passed on to Justyce, to e're remain.

Sad story and told so well.  Glad justice was served and your life renewed.

Wow!  Tim, you tell this story-poem with such care.  It hurts to hear the things that you see.  Super poem.

Appreciate the comments.  The case was reopened when the defendant attempted to kill his fifth wife.  At least he will be in prison the rest of his life.
