THE UNIVERSAL KING

I stood in a field, I was all alone
I saw a king, who sat on a throne.
His face was twisted and kind of grim
I asked, what in the world was troubling him.

He looked me over and said with a groan,
go away mortal and leave me alone
I've got troubles, troubles by the score
and I've swore no mortal could pass through my door.

Your world is my kingdom over which I rule
it's filled with greed and all kinds of fools
So go away mortal let my time pass
for dim is your future and dull was your past

This world is the kingdom over which I survey
and it gets more corrupt with each passing day
the wealthy and greedy and those that are in
say they don't understand the poor with a grin

the politician who think, there so elite
sellng their souls, right out in the street
those with the money, are quick to say
I can bye me one, each and ever day

your republicans, democrats and the independents its true
when there the power, they walk all over you
I guess I could stop it, with the wave of my hand
but I would be taking away all the choices of man

you have the right, so go choose your own fate
as throne and the king moved back thru a gate
I saw a tear, as it fell from his eye
and the shrug of his shoulders was a simple good bye.

Yes blondie even a king must still let us make our own choices or he would not be a king but a tyrant and a cruel master.  James

Very nice poem and full of truth and wisdom.
Greed and power, so American. One only has to look around and see that so much of this country is now owned by non-Americans.  Everything is for sale to the highest bidder.
Where is it all going!
Nice writing.

Thanks so much, I'm really surprised of how much "great" feedback I have received from this simple poem.   Thanks again.

I'm really so glad I have gotten such a wonderful response on this poem...Thanks to everyone I have decided to put it in our school newspaper.

Thanks so much for your prayers.  I must say I am doing much better, and I am out of the hospital.  I still am seeking some help but my dear friend Kim (cutie putootie) has been helping me out.  I know I have some issues to deal with about my weight and personal stuff but I know the Lord will help me through it,
Thanks again!
