Okay PDV.....here's the poem, now to find a man who'll say yes and in turn promise the same...think I'll have to shoot for next Feb 29th....4 years from now

I Promise

I can not give you rainbows
The moon, the sun, the stars
Mansions full of diamonds
And gold will not be ours

I can not promise sunny days
Or skies that never rain
I can not keep you safe from harm
Nor take away your pain

I can not say that we will always
See things eye to eye
Or that life will all be simple
And we won’t struggle to get by

But I promise to stand beside you
Through good times and through bad
To lend a shoulder for you to cry on
To hold you when you’re sad

I’ll offer up my hand to you
To guide you when you’re lost
I’ll shelter you admist life’s storms
No matter what the cost

I pledge to you my heart, my soul
I’ll give you all I can
And never for a second will you
Doubt that you’re my man

I’ll love you like no other has
To you I will be true
I’ll nurture, honor and respect
This all, I promise you

So I come before you now
Tonight, on bended knee
To promise all my love to you
If you’ll just marry me

I’ve rehearsed these sincere words
But I’m nervous, I confess
As I offer up this ring of promise
And pray that you’ll say yes

 Have you ever noticed
That the words...
"Goodbye"
"I'm sorry"
"I love you"
Are so easy to pronounce
...Yet so hard to say
~Javan

Wow!  This is so beautiful and caring, Ruth.

"But I promise to stand beside you"

Says it all in one sentence.  What more could a man ask for.  Lovely poem.

I almost said yes ... but my wife is gently resting her rolling pin on my shoulder
So I would like to take this opportunity to say ...
~ Wonderful Poem ~

The things that you can promise are the things that are most important and their not really things, but the gift of self.  Is there no greater gift????
Too bad this world get hung up on things, clouding the really important beauty there is out there.
Hoot, you are such a great writer!

I really must echo Danny in "all" that he has said...you are a great writer! And as for the rest, yes, yes! The gift of self is, indeed, the one gift that cannot be measured, sold, bought, bartered, manufactured, simulated, duplicated or upgraded. It is "the genuine article."

Wonderful writing, Hoot Owl.

Pobably the most heart felt poem I have ever seen from you Ruth.  And for me it has special meaning deep inside that you know I share.  I don't really know how to respond...I know it is not directed at me but in the same....Wishing it was.

There are two kinds of pedestrians...the quick and the dead. Drive it like you stole it.

You give`m a hint
of what`s in store,
And make him wait
Four year`s more

No man in his right mind would turn an offer of love like this away.
Beautiful read Hoot_Owl.

Ah, hoot. You're a custom tailored fit in an off the rack world. You should have these things said to you every day. Wonderful writing
