SHINING IN DARKNESS

He glides the endless night,
On widespread velvet wings.
An echo known to Night alone,
Of self-reproach he sings.
By shadow taking flight,
Though purely in his mind...
Sanctity turns iniquity
In all he's left behind -

A light shining in Darkness,
A touch healing the soul.
The missing piece, by sweet caprice,
That somehow made him whole.
An answer to the starkness,
A reason to believe.
Love to be true in cherished blue
Seasons of make-believe.

Now Destitution calls him,
He answers with no shame.
No where to hide, Death grants a bride,
Misery is her name.
The long forgotten glim
Now startling shades of black.
Attuned to Night, adapted sight
See's for him no way back.

Coal black within the sockets,
The eyes have turned within
To scald the heart to reap the art
Of one undying sin.
The pain flows in rivulets,
To pools of the unknown.
But cleansing tears vanquish the fears
Of sin, not his alone.

A soft brush of angel's wings,
A collapsing of Pride.
Eyes open new to all that's true,
As love grows deep inside.
What illumination it brings
To caverns, once dark despair.
The bleakest soul, now full, stands whole,
God's light shines, even there.

This is wonderful, Michael - It goes on your best of the best list... um... the title sounds a bit familiar, though...

Ron's right about you - You've always got a positive glimmer shining through your darkness....

Oh, this is wonderfully done Michael. I think the formatting you chose to portray your fine words in really makes it. I love the glimmer of hope released at the end that truly makes this poem shine

M, this one is exceptional, truly. amazingly expressive.I especially like no matter how dark your imagery or emotions are...you always show the moment of finding the light.
------------

There can only be shadows ... but for the existence of reflecting light,
we must accept the darkness...when day fades in to night.
As the blackness embraces us...we become lost in our fears,
look towards the heavens...to starlit skies...glistening in our tears.
Even in ones darkest moment...somewhere a guiding light does shimmer,
search for the light that shines in us all...
illuminations of love, hope, desire...its beauty shines and glimmers.

 She says baby,
It's 3am I must be lonely,
When she says baby,
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes,
Says the rains gonna wash away I believe it.

I love you baby... always.*

Quite a compliment, Nan, the title does seem strangely familiar now that I think of it...LOL
Ruth, I think the love of God is the only light that could reach into the depths of darkness I was living in.  I never lose that glimmer, even on my darkest days now.

devina, this poem is alive within me literally.  I was just hoping it wasn't too obscure for the all of you to understand...LOL

Breathe~, did i really give you goosies?  Now that's a compliment...Thank you very much.

Mike, As I have yet to see flaw in any of your works, I take that as a compliment of highest regard.

Janet, many have told me I always show a glimmer of hope in all my work - this is where it stems from I think.  You poetic response was beautiful, shimmer all on its own.

Everyone, sincerest thanks for the kind replies.
