If I were but a nightingale,
...I'd fly on feathered wing,
I'd soar amongst the stars above,
...and to the heavens sing,
Around the world on currents high,
...I'd sail the evening's breeze,
As I sought out, my one true love,
...to sing love's harmonies,
From Zanzibar to Tinbuktu,
...ever would I fly,
Seeking out my Aphrodite,
...on wing in welkin's sky,
If I were but a nightingale,
...I'd sing that I love you,
If I were but a nightingale,
...I'd fly as one with you.

Exquisitely done sir!  This has got to be one of my favorite pieces from you, for I too, have longed to fly of late....(sigh)  This really touches me deep - your words are magical in this, and you said everything I feel, so well....Thank you for sharing...I see we all have dreams to fly.....Come fly with me anytime!  hehe  That sounded like an airline commercial....  ROFL

I like the distance implied and the wistfulness of this piece, Mike. Very sweet.

Now Mike...you do know I couldn't let this one go either right?

If I were but an falcon
...I'd fly on outstretched wings
I'd soar into the highest clouds
...To hunt you precious things
I'd search the skies above you
...And watch you from on high
Hooded, tethered, bound no more
...On graceful wings I'd fly
If I were but a falcon
...adrift up in the blue
In freedoms flight, I'd always find
...A way to be with you

You're going to hear my voice in the morning calling your name
And know my love and my desperation were one and the same...
Baby it's alright...
Take this pain and all this sadness
It's alright
Take this rain
You're going to be free...
