Do you?
By: Amy M. Kennedy

Do you remember me? I remember you
I wonder what you look like now, wonder what you do
Do you think of me, and wonder where I went?
Well I will take a moment to tell you about the two parents I recieved, who were angel sent
They are the two most amazing people I have ever known
And with the help of their love and understanding, I have grown
The girls are doing good, sorry but they don't know who you are
Part of me feels it knows you, part of me feels like your a distant star
I know we will never meet, and I think thats for the best
For when I was adopted, God gave me a test
I am loyal to the parents who raised me, for they have my heart
Soon as I met them I loved them from the start
Still now that I am a woman, I find my thoughts every now and then go back to a former time
I wonder what your life is like now, and wonder if you wonder about mine
Praying that you found your way, and that you and God made amends
We don't ever know what life has in store for us, or what's around the bend
Need to take a moment to say two words I know you'll never hear, but thank you just the same
You gave me birth, you gave me love, and you gave me a name
My name is different now, and I think I have changed
But as the saying goes, "no loss no gain"
You would probably be surprised to know a little something, I do not hate you
No in fact a part of me always has and always will love you

~this poem is dedicated to my biological mom who was forced to give up me and my two sisters seventeen years ago.

Amy~
Honey, rest assured she wonders.
She also would be happy knowing that you have loving parents.
Mom's are like that ...

Amy, it's nice of you to share these
feelings with us.

I'm sure she thinks of you often.... I have a dear friend that was adopted. We found his biological mother a year ago and she has yet to agree to meet him. Now, he's reconciled to that...he too has the world's best parents....kind and loving..so he is in no hurry to meet this biological mother.

I wanted to take a moment to tell both of you thank you very much! My adoption was hard on me...but through the years, I've learned a lot about life and love...and I realize that all happens for a reason. Once again, thanks for responding!

Its lovely that you are in touch with your feelings.  Very nice poem for your adoptive parents and also the natural longing to know your biological mother.   James

Amy,

I too am adopted, my real parents are gone so I did not ever wonder were they might be, but I did not have the fortune to get loving foster parents, and it has been only in the last five years that I have truly experienced love through my mother inlaw. She has tought me so much and given me the love I always knew was supost to be there.
Thank you so much for sharing these feelings.

I wont say that i know how you feel here because it wouldn`t be an honest statement.
I will say that you are a very lucky lady to have parents as wonderful as those that you`ve written about here.
The love that you have for your parent`s show here in your writing.
And know that your mother is thinking of you just as our thought`s will always be with our children.
Thank your for sharing so much of you.

I also certain that she thinks about you every day of her life
Your poem so sweet and yet so sad
I do also have a dear friend that is looking to find his mother, I can only imagine but I do know how he feels.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, perhaps some day.... I hope for you.
Your Foster parents must be very proud of you and I can see how much you love them.

Ps. I'm helping my friend to find his mothers through the net, there are many resources that can be used.

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.
