Mounting desire greets my fevered mind
as I walk down the candy aisle
each M&M, each Milky Way
gives rise to my wanton smile

Baby Ruth, Pay Day too
all beckon me to a taste
Snickers bars and Jujube’s
that settle around my waist

I pass them up for other things
like carrots and celery sticks
but hear them calling from the shelf
those Red Vines and Pixie Stix

Halloween is just around the bend
so there’s plenty of bags in the store
Candy Corn and Cracker Jacks
and Peanut Butter Cups galore

Then there will be Christmas
Candy Canes are a sweet delight
Homemade Fudge and Divinity
dance in my dreams each night

But I leave without a sweet
being good for one more day
knowing that again I’ve held
those ‘candy cravings’ at bay!

Heres an idea from Poet deVine   make believe everyone in the forum is a candy and tell what kind they are! Here are a few examples by me and PdV

Poet deVine's:
Balladeer- A candy of epic proportions
WhtDove- candy that will bring you to your knees in prayer
Toerag- candy so smelly you wont want to eat it
Mistikman- sweet caramel coating..  soft marshmallow heart

Mine:
Michael- candy that will leave you in awe with its brilliant flavor
wayoutwalt- candy that has an interesting flavor, but makes you come back for more
Poet deVine- candy that is deceptively strong and uplifting

Gosh Sharon, this was great. change it to coffee and you have me pegged...lol.

Cappachio, Lait's too,
Smell the aroma as they brew.
French vanilla, Hazelnut,
All proclaimed to rot your gut.

Help me, help me,
What to do?
I need my fix,
How about you?

Hmmm, I really don't have a problem with passing those up.  Every once in a while...
Not much of a chocolate person, but I do like M&M's.

Great poem Devine!

I see you kept them at the Bay
Now that is where you shop I say
Sweet the poem you done
I wish I had your will power
So how many did you buy then?

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Great poem, PDV! (But I'd have to disagree with your assessment of Toe! LOL)
