This is a poem in response to a thread by Poet deVine in Announcements and Links. You can find it here: /pip/Forum3/HTML/000214.html

Out of breath, out of strength.
She is almost at arms length.
Must push harder, cannot slow.
Adrenalin causes my blood to flow.

If caught I will be wed.
I would rather just be dead!
Wed to horrible millionaire.
Of her money, I do not care!

Glancing back, she is drawing near.
Her catching me is what I fear.
I must find a means of escape.
Oh why couldn't I be in better shape?

Running hard, running fast.
I cannot be the one in last.
Oh why do I have to be the prey,
On this Sadie Hawkins Day?

Thinking quick, I have a plan!
For my escape, I need a man.
Trip him up, make him fall
He can succumb to her call

I spy a man, losing speed
Who only has a tiny lead
I lunge forward, grab his knee
He goes down, I am free!

And from them I turn and run
For with this race, I am done
This is one where the slowest fail
While quick thinking cheaters must prevail

LOL...hysterical! I loved this! I can see you running, looking over your shoulder then frantically trying to find a victim to offer up for the sacrifice! Excellent poem!

Now Mistikman shall never know -
To fall in love he would enjoy.

That guy he thought was really slow
Was really just a very clever boy.

Got tripped on purpose, yes he did -
Dear Sadie took him home that day.

So now they have a dozen kids
And They are still in love today!!

Very clever. I saw this one coming after I talked to you last night. Great job and good imagination!

Poet deVine- Heh, thanks, better him than me!

WtdDove- Who could run from Ms. deVine? Certainly not I. I am running away from that horrible Sadie Hawkins

Nan- Thanks, but I bet hes horrible and filing for divorce as we speak, kinda like that greedy (word that rhymes with witch) from Who wants to marry a multi-millionaire

Marilyn- Why thank you

hoot_owl_rn- I am glad I could bring a little humor to your day, thank you

Jer- Heh, my bitterness towards love really didn't go into this, this was all a spur of the moment challenge from Poet deVine. Thanks anyway

Moving this up ...as Mistikman was the 'cheater' in my poem!
