If I were but a butterfly,
...I'd soar on wings of air,
I'd float aloft on summer winds,
...as soft as angel's hair,
Rainbowed wings of many colors,
...radiant in the sun,
Suspended on a cooling breeze,
...with nature I'd be one,
If I were but a butterfly,
...adrift in heaven's blue,
If I were but a butterfly,
...I'd fly away with you.

you are indeed a butterfly
with words of colored hue
that drift across my vision
when I flutterby with you

Sigh!

Mike

Your words are like the wings of a butterfly...gracefully touching us all! Very nice poem! Have a great day.

Thanks for the gracious comments Vandanna and Aimster.  Once you get past 45, you are allowed to be mushy Michael.
Martie...  I often do that when I read your poetry...  *sigh*

Mike, your writing here is delicately befitting the lightness of butterfly wing and flight...

"...summer winds,
as soft as angel's hair"

...how do you do this??

Mike~
This flutters through my mind.
I love the image of the butterfly.
Very nicely done.

Makes me think of how free and easy life could be, if but...

Lovely little piece, here, Mike!

If I were but a gentle dove
...I'd fly on wings of white
High above the clouds and trees
...I'd soar in graceful flight
In the air I'd drift away
...My plumage shining bright
'Ore landscapes, rainbows, sun, and moon
...from day into the night
If I were but a gentle dove
...I'd fly the whole day through
On graceful wings, I'd find a way
...To get back home to you

Beautiful poem Mike...as you can see, I found it inspiring

Geesh, just look at this!  You've got everyone flying, even Ruth!  ( and I believe she hates to fly!) LOL  I just read your nightingale poem, and thought it was beautiful, then I stumble onto this, and find it just as breathtaking!  You are on a roll....I had no clue you were over 45...LOL  I like what you had to say about the mushy factor!  LOL  I suppose you're right, although I wasn't aware of any age restrictions!  hehe  Great job Mike!

I really enjoyed this Mike........I actually saw the buttterfly floating by me; beautiful imagery.  Wish I knew a "butterfly" who wanted to fly away with me (oh, well.....life goes on).
