Le Metro

The relentless sea
pounding on shores
washing lives away
with waves
to distant locations
making us all
driftwood deposited
here and there
waiting for the waves
to return.

Inspiring words..

I lay here in this distant shore
awaiting another tide
useless in my wandering life
my tears I must hide

~Robert

I sense much longing in this poem. Thank you for sharing this lovely piece of work with all of us.

The sea, relentless...choosing our alightings and repositionings...so often it feels as though this is true. A lovely concept, rather saddening, expressed very well, Robert.

Poet deVine....what a wonderful feeling you give me in those words.

Amy thanks.....so very much

Claire....the sea is such a great medium for poetry...even if I was inspired by the Paris Metro while waiting for the next train.

Thanks for explaining where the title came from. Whatever the title, this is a beautiful thought

Great poem, Robert! Inspiration can come at the most unlikely times, can't it?!

}

Waiting for the metro felt like being a part of a wave that was carrying me to someplace that I had not any control over.

RobertB~

'making us all
driftwood deposited
here and there'

An ocean of emotion in this.
Brilliant, no matter what inspired it.

Just the thought of driftwood deposited
on the shore .... makes me wistful for
the turning of the tide.
