the will of the wind

you can’t always blueprint the course of the day
with schemes and designs to determine the way
for there are some forces from which you can’t hide
it’s the will of the wind and the drift of the tide

sometimes you go forward with zest in your soul
determined to reach that one reachable goal
then unforeseen happenings come into play
it’s the flow of the waters, the storms of the day

sometimes you wake up with your heart full of dread
with sorrowful melodies fixed in your head
then the requiem turns to a jovial tune
it’s the tilt of the earth and the pull of the moon

you cannot predict what the future will bring
what dance you will dance and what song you will sing
for no matter how great your resolve from within
it’s the drift of the tide, and the will of the wind

Once again, I am shaking my head in wonderment--so smooth and easy to follow,
and deep...and you make it sound easy.  I
really should be typing this in green.

This is lovely, as usual my dear.

This is absolutely lovely!  Well worded, and certainly true!  I especially enjoyed the lines "it’s the tilt of the earth and the pull of the moon", and "it’s the drift of the tide, and the will of the wind".

Very nicely written, Elizabeth. I enjoy the moon's influence, and find it a wonderful source of poetic inspiration.

~Liz

Being new to Passions, this is the first piece of your work I have read. I LOVED this poem..you have an amazing talent. And you are right, things are beyond our control sometimes...no matter how much we like to think we control our own destiny. Simply a beautiful poem that reflects a very important message! I look forward to reading more of your work.
Take care,
Amy

Im thinking that you should change you user name, because after reading your work the last few day`s I now see you as the QUEEN of poetry so your name should be
Queen Elizabeth
I now bow to the Queen for showing so much talent in yet another of your pieces.
How true this one is.
Thank you.
