Doctor Mom
~~~
When  this  Dad  gets  sick
put  on  your  brake
try  not  to  squash  the  fuss  I  make
My  vocabulary
starts  to  shrink
just  moans  and  groans  are  all  I  think
I  rub  my  eyes
I  hold  my  head
with  dragging  feet  I  head  off  to  bed
~
Family  life  comes  to  a  halt
I’m  sick
Could  be  dying
And  it  ain’t  my  fault
Call  the  doctor
Where’s  the  bucket?
Tuck  me  in  with  another  blanket
Moan  and  groan
whine  and  wheeze
a  sadly  echoed   thank-you  please
~
My  hand  is  shaky
Can’t  lift  the  spoon
I  hope  the  doctor  gets  here  soon
Fluff  my  pillow
Can  I  have  more  soup?
Angels  could  take  their  cue  from  you
My  foot’s  asleep
I’ve  got  an  itch
If  I  rub  your  lamp
can  I  make  a  wish?
~
Ouch
That  hurts
What’s  that  you  say?
You  think  I’m  better?
Than  who?  I  ask
Ouch
That's  it !
No  use  to  run
I’ll  catch  you  before  this  day  is  done
~
When  this  Dad  gets  sick
for  heavens  sake
Lace  up  your  shoes
you  may  not  get  a  break !
~~~

 I'm not ugly!
I'm just visually challenged!

You tell 'em, Rex! Women can't really relate to this because they don't get as sick as we do.....but I understand.

And we(men)say that we`re the strong one`s
I know I play the sick thing for all that it`s worth.
Nothing like being waited on hand and foot.lol
Nice read

serenity
thankyou, we do apply a lot of laughter in our family

bobbycat
LOL, sounds like you've been run ragged before ... memories?

Denise
your welcome ... I like to tickle a few funny bones

Amy
your welcome ... glad you read my poem ... most dads are like this

Martie
thanks, glad you liked it

Poet deVine
hit a bone did it?

Claire
after reading the sadness in many peoples hearts ... I try that much harder to write something ticklish

Marge
well of course ... men are willing to admit that they feel more pain then women do

Balladeer
exactly ... women get the flue ... men get the Black Plague and when a man sits in the dentist chair ... it's comparable to childbirth ... it's true

January Flowers
you could start a doctor mom sideline business and give others a break
... heh ... you could get rich

Elizabeth
been there huh?

RufffRyder
we do love the attention don't we ... most men never grow up in some respects ... we're still big boys
