The Choice of Love
By: Amy M. Kennedy

If given the choice, between love and money, I'd pick love every time
For love is free, carries no pricetag, you can't buy it...no matter if you saved every dime
Love is what beats in every mans heart, its what makes us feel free
Family and friends, that's what its about, at least thats how it should be
But greed takes over the mind, and pretty soon were in too deep
Once you've chosen money, fame, and fortune over love and friends, its too late to weep
Love of a family, a sibling, your best friend, whoever that special someone may be
Tell them today that you love them, make them really see
Don't let the unimportant things in life like money, tempt you into another route
For it is these very things, that spread the seed of doubt
We were brought to this earth with nothing in our hand
Just made out of the very Earth, of clay and dirt and sand
We leave this earth with nothing of materialitic value
However the ones who have love in thier hearts...go to the kingdom of power

Thank you so much for your kind words! Glad you liked this poem. And you are so right about love...it stays when everything else goes.

This is excellent, Amy!! It reminds me of a poem that I wrote about someone who did choose money over family...perhaps I will post it tomorrow night or Sunday (I'm going away overnight and tomorrow). This one really spoke to me!

Amy~
Nicely said.  Much truth here.
I'll take love over money
any day of the week.
